A18 – Advanced Persistent threats (APTs): Real threat or marketing concept ?

Date : Monday, January 28, 2013

Time : 16h30-17h30

Hosted by : Nicolas RUFF (EADS)

Introduced a few years ago, the notion of Advanced Persistent Threat refers to very complex targeted cyber-attacks. This appellation is however widely challenged by certain observers who do not hesitate to refer to “disaster scenarios”. Is this a new marketing concept or a new cyber-espionage threat? Are these attacks always so “advanced”?  Or is their success due to the obvious vulnerabilities that continue to exist among victims?
